Too cute not to share

X shaped stitch?

IMGP0894

Used to encase elastic on a crocheted or knitted waistband. It is less bulky than two layers of solid crochet.

Hey, Jude

IMGP0893

Three swatches. Same stitch pattern. Same yarn. Three different hook sizes. One was too stiff. One had lots of drape. One was math friendly. I went with the math friendly.

Using the gauge factor, and hoping and praying that maybe this time I would have better results. As I did the leg bands on the mesh shorts I cried with sheer relief as this was the best pair of shorts I had ever made. I don’t know if you will ever see this but I could not just say nothing.

Thanks for being a better friend to me than I was to you. I hope all your dreams come true.

Your Sandi

factory made knot

factory made knot, originally uploaded by picable.

Best to cut out the knot made at the mill. It is made because the yarn ran out before the skein was complete. They want you to get all the yarn you pay for.

Problem is if you crochet with the knot you may regret it the first time you wash the item you made. Not good.

Go ahead and laugh

if you want to, but the more I work this pattern the easier it gets and the better I get at it. It’s true!

What is it, you say? This is the front half of a pair of French Knickers. Underwear. Crocheted panties. Lingerie, if you will. I bought the pattern over on Ravelry.com and I’m liking it more and more as I begin to see what the final outcome will be.

For my friend Cindy

My friend, Cindy, is a first time grandmother. She is proud as can be of her adorable new grandson. I’ve seen pictures of him from day one almost.  Actually sharing her joy was a bit tricky that week since my husband was in the hospital at the time; but this is what friends do…we get through the ups and downs together the best way we know how. Cell phones are great, huh? Since my motto is “7 days without crochet makes one weak” (pun intended) the sweater is completed and on its way to New York in the morning.  IMG00008-20110613-0111

Observations and Conclusions on the Crochet Chain

It’s the first thing we all learned how to make with crochet. From the chain we build the garment we plan to make.

Does it matter if the chains are all the same size? Yes! Not only that, if you plan to do a row of sc onto the chain, the chain loops need to be similar in size to your sc. In other words, if your loops are loose and your sc is not then you will have a sloppy looking edge on your garment.
